You may look at this number and think, "There is no way I could EVER do something like that." Sure you can! I won't say it wasn't hard. I will say that if you stick to the plan, you can do it too!
Wait...there's a plan?
Of course there's a plan! I started off by making a main goal: An 80,000 word novel. Anything after that would be icing on the proverbial cake. In order to reach that main goal, I had to make smaller, more attainable goals. This is all part of "the plan."
Step 1: The Daily Word Goal - I set a goal for myself; no less than 500 words per day. We're all busy with our regular lives, but you have to make time to write or you won't get anywhere. This was my goal. 500 words. No less.
Step 2: The Weekly Goal - I had to write at least 6 days a week. I allowed myself a day off. It got a little messed up a few days here and there, and when it did, I tried to make up for it by writing extra.
That's it. 500 words a day. At least 6 days a week. Some days I kicked serious hiney and went above and beyond the expectations I set for myself. Some days, it was like squeezing water out of a rock. But I still did it. You can do it too. You just have to set your sights on what you want to accomplish. It doesn't have to be writing a book, either. Think of what you want to do (main goal), and set smaller, attainable goals that will help you reach the big one.
Just do me a favor? Don't ask how editing is going. That's a whole other ball o' wax!
