A few people have asked if it is within Jericho's world. I can safely say that, no, it has nothing to do with Jericho. This is going to be a brand new series, set in the Detroit metro area. The genre? Urban fantasy. "Chew" on that for a little while. ;)
It feels odd to be finished with the actual writing portion of a novel. Spending nearly every night (and sometimes, day) with characters in my head makes you really miss them when they're not so loud and influential. They're still there, but their main story is told. Now it's up to me to form that story into something more...coherent...to share with everyone else. Many authors have compared the writing process to giving birth. As someone who has been through both, I can safely say that they've been pretty accurate! I'd say writing causes less pain, but who would I be fooling? Sometimes, it got pretty darn painful. My back is still out of whack. Now, when I write, it has to do with notes for the story. Did I answer this question? Did I make that point clear? Did my character do something that made sense? Everything goes into the "story bible."
But, Mary...What's a story bible?
Simply put: Anything and everything that has to do with the story. Characters, biographies, locations, plot points...you name it. It's in there. It has been amazingly helpful for such a long piece of work, and I highly suggest it to anyone who has to create such a rich, layered world.
I still have more announcements to make, so stay tuned! For now, I'm slathering my chest with Vicks and going to bed. Hopefully, by tomorrow morning I'll be ready to run again.
